The name Hatcham comes from the historical area now known as New Cross in SE London. Founded in 2003 as a joint effort between the late Mickey Palmer and 20-year-old Ryan ‘Millsy’ Reynolds (current Hatcham Chairman). Mickey would reminisce over a pint of Bitter in the Hatcham Social Club in New Cross about his glory days of running an elite Sunday league team and enlisted the help of Millsy to help gather regulars at the working man’s club to form a team.

Starting out in the London & Kent Border League the club grew to multiple teams and played in multiple League organizations. The club now plays in the Orpington & Bromley District Sunday Football League and consists of three teams.
The start of this season showed little promise as multiple players left for a rival team forcing an urgent rebuild of the squad to be ready for the new season.

An injection of new young players, and the return of legendary club captain Gary Noel following several years playing professional football abroad, added to a core of ever-present & loyal servants, some with 10+ years of service to the club, would prove to be a winning formula. Hatcham last lifted the Kent Premier Cup back in 2012 and 10 years on there are still 3 players still in the playing squad – Harrison Carnegie, Ryan James & Nytram Dixon-Baker.

From having already finished as runners-up in the league to now playing in the final of the Kent Premier cup, this season has been one to remember. It has been an incredible turnaround from the start of the season when the team was odds-on favorites to be relegated from the OBDSFL Senior Division. Management duo Andrew Dalhouse and Jamie Leggett have done an incredible job of organizing and motivating a group that had little time to gel before the start of the season. Andrew and Jamie deserve full credit for molding the players into the close-knit team and getting the most out of them. The management and players have exceeded all expectations this season.
